2015
To ensure world-class excellence, it became clear that Mongolian companies must engage directly with internationally recognized, reputable certification and accreditation bodies that operate at a professional expert level. Recognizing this critical gap and aiming to create a transformative solution, FMC (First Management Certification) was established in 2015.

From 2016 to 2017
1. Official Visit of the British Standard Institute
The SMMSS Project, funded by the European Union and aimed at strengthening Mongolia’s standardization system, sought to align national quality and safety standards with international and European benchmarks. The British Standards Institution (BSI) served as the implementing organization for this project.
Implemented between 2014 and 2017 with funding of approximately €4 million, the project’s main objectives included:
Export Strategy and Market Access: Establishing a national quality working group and identifying priority export products to develop a practical strategy for bringing Mongolian products to international markets, particularly those of the European Union (EU).
Legislative Alignment: Supporting the revision of Mongolia’s Law on Standardization to harmonize product certification-related national legislation with EU regulations.
Consumer Protection: Introducing EU principles on product safety and consumer protection to enhance safeguards for the health and rights of Mongolian citizens.
Capacity Building: Training over 1,500 government officials in specialized areas such as responding to WTO inquiries and conducting border control inspections.
Inter-Organizational Cooperation: Strengthening long-term partnerships between the Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology (MASM) and similar institutions in EU member states.
As part of the project’s activities, representatives from BSI visited Mongolia in 2016.
